It's Dog Walk & 5K Run Time!

It's Dog Walk & 5K Run Time!

In the words of Ringo Starr, “Peace and love, peace and love.” The world can never have too much peace and love and we hope you’ll join us to share a little more.  On Saturday, May 18 at Duffner Park, Bella SPCA is hosting Peace, Love & Pups Dog Walk & 5K Run. Proceeds from this event allow our organization to help others when it is needed most.

This will be the 9th year for us to host the event and we are honored to say Peace, Love & Pups Dog Walk & 5k Run has become a community favorite! In the past, our donors have come together to help us raise more than $25,000 each year.

Our event is family focused, pet owner focused, and fun for everyone. If you have never been, it’s a sight to behold. More dogs than you can count are there with their owners having fun in a beautiful park in north Oklahoma City. We have vendor booths, food trucks, pet vaccines, and so much more. Our goal for 2019 is $35,000 and we are hoping you will help us reach this achievement by signing up.

This year's event is even more fun with the addition of a 5k Run! In the morning we'll cheer on our runners and in the afternoon, we'll do the same for our walkers. So, get your walking or running shoes ready, gather up your flower power, put on your peace symbol, and come be part of our 9th Annual Peace, Love & Pups Dog Walk & 5K Run to celebrate our pets and raise money for an animal in need.

Participating in Peace, Love & Pups Dog Walk & 5k Run is easy and every dollar raised helps save a life and give a second chance!

First, decide HOW you want to participate.

You have three options. Choose the one that works best for you!

1. Register as a DOG WALK or 5K FUNDRAISER for FREE and create your own page right here! As long as you raise at least $35 in contributions by the day of the walk, you'll get your T-shirt, goodie bag and walk participation at no cost! (If you don't end up raising at least $35, you can just pay it yourself) This is the most popular option, since raising money for animals is the purpose of this event (and the competition is fierce for the top prizes!).

2. Register as a DOG WALK or 5K PARTICIPANT for $35. You get your T-shirt, goodie bag and walk participation. If you choose to raise money over the $35, that's fantastic! But you're under no obligation to do so.  And, if you don't have a pet to walk there will be tons of rescue dogs at the event who will gladly walk with you!

3. Registers as a VIRTUAL WALKER for $10.  If you live out of the Oklahoma City area, you can still participate! No shirt or goodie bag, but you can still support the animals!

For 12 years, Bella SPCA has served as a lifeline of hope, support, and care for the people of Oklahoma and their pets.  From the very beginning, our goal has been to help people and pets when they need it most. Through our Veterinary Assistance Program and thanks to the generosity of our donors and the compassion of our veterinary partners, we have provided over $800,000 in funding and helped thousands of people and pets. Families who thought they would have to say goodbye to their four-legged friend instead got a second chance.

Bella SPCA Announces Organization’s New Executive Director

Bella SPCA Announces Organization’s New Executive Director

Bella SPCA is very happy to announce that Valerie Aubert has accepted the position of Executive Director for the organization and will assume her new role on December 3, 2018.

Valerie brings to Bella almost 20 years of nonprofit experience having served as Executive Director for Rebuilding Together OKC, Executive Director for the Police Athletic League, and Vice President of Development & Communications for NewView Oklahoma.

In addition to an exceptional track record as a highly effective leader with a history of growing organizations and increasing their reach into the community, Valerie also has a passion for saving animals. Her own dog is a rescue dog that found a loving home with Valerie’s family which makes Bella’s mission very personal to her.

Eric McCune, Bella SPCA Co-Founder says, “The moment I met Valerie and listened to her speak, I knew she was the one to lead our organization. Her passion for helping people and helping animals is obvious and contagious. I imagine Valerie being just as comfortable speaking before a group of donors as I do working in the field to help the animals and people of our community.”

In addition to overseeing a staff that manages the day to day operations, Valerie will also work hand in hand with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategic plan that will expand current programs and create new programs to further Bella’s reach into the community.
